Together with Bjørn Melhus, Sven Johne was the first artist guest at Videoart at Midnight. This was in November 2008. For the edition, Sven Johne selected the essential sequence
– a kind of “best of” – of  the half hour work GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH: 

A Conférencier, a compere announces in an endless loop one sensation after the other. but he sets his audience rather at unease when listened to closely...

The conceptual artworks by Sven Johne are mostly based on a form of journalistic work, in which he uses image material or newspaper reports. Sven Johne uses this research material for the construction of seemingly documentary stories, which shift  between reality and fiction. In his photographs, films and installations, political, social and cultural events get tangible through individual stories. Sven Johne is questioning the authenticity and the characteristic of proof of pictures and texts, which influence our access to the world.
